Throughout his high school career, Joshua had the opportunity to play increasingly challenging roles, including the Baker in Into the Woods (for which he received a Best Actor nomination from the Gene Kelly Awards.) During his senior year, Joshua auditioned for many college musical theatre programs in the Pittsburgh area - but as luck would have it, by the time he auditioned for Point Park University, their concentration in Musical Theatre was already full. Undeterred, Joshua accepted the last remaining slot in the program with a concentration in Acting instead. Cast in the very first show he auditioned for, Joshua once again hit the ground running, and his hard work in the program quickly reaped benefits. During his time as a student, he performed both within and outside of the university, in such shows as: RED (world premiere); Elliot and the Magic Bed; Mafia on Prozac as part of the Raymond Laine One Acts Festival; Hair; The Exonerated (with The REP, Point Park University’s professional theatre company); and in Ragtime as Coalhouse Walker Jr. (acclaimed as one of the top five shows of 2006 by The Pittsburgh Post Gazette.)
